How ALTRcare Works: Doctor-Led GLP-1 Weight Loss, Step by Step
From a 60-second assessment to medicines at your door and a doctor's team on WhatsApp: exactly what happens at every step of an ALTRcare program, what it costs, and what we will not do.

Clinical Editorial

ALTRcare exists to do one thing properly: give you real care and get you a real outcome. Not a prescription and a shrug, not an app that pings you and forgets you, but a doctor-led program where someone is genuinely invested in whether you actually lose the weight and keep it off. Real physicians prescribe semaglutide or tirzepatide where it fits, medicines reach any serviceable pincode in India, and a care team stays close on WhatsApp, the app you already use, reminding you about doses, checking your food and diet, and catching side effects before they derail you. This page is the plain, canonical description of how it works, and of what we will refuse to do. If you are still comparing options, see how ALTRcare stacks up in our honest comparison of GLP-1 programs in India.
Step 1: The 60-second assessment
You start at altrcare.com/start with five questions: height, weight, goal, weight loss history, and health conditions. It applies Indian BMI cutoffs (overweight begins at 23 for South Asians, not the Western 25) and tells you instantly whether GLP-1 treatment is a plausible fit. If your BMI and history do not support treatment, the assessment says so instead of funnelling you onward; medication for someone who does not need it is bad medicine and worse business.
Step 2: A free doctor consultation on WhatsApp video
You book a 15-minute video consultation, free, at a time you pick. A registered doctor reviews your assessment, takes a proper history (medicines, thyroid, pancreatitis, pregnancy plans, family history), asks for or orders baseline blood tests when needed, and makes a clinical decision. Sometimes the decision is no, or not yet, pending a test. The consultation follows India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, and you can ask for the doctor's registration number at any point; verifying us is encouraged.
Step 3: Prescription and honest medicine selection
If treatment is appropriate, the doctor prescribes and explains the choice, picking the medicine most likely to get you a real result and keep you on it for the full course. Our default recommendation is clinically validated generic semaglutide, because since the March 2026 patent expiry it delivers the trial-proven molecule without the branded mark-up, so nobody has to abandon a working plan for cost reasons. Branded options and tirzepatide are prescribed where they fit your case. On price, we are simply transparent: programs start from around ₹3,499 a month, and the doctor quotes your full-course cost including maintenance doses before you pay anything. The number is a fact you deserve up front, not the reason to choose us.
Step 4: Delivery to your door, anywhere in India
Medicines ship from licensed pharmacies with cold-chain packaging to pincodes across India, with refills timed so you never face a gap between doses. Every order carries a proper invoice and a verifiable trail, which, after India's grey-market years, is half the point.
Step 5: Follow-up that actually follows up
This is the part that determines results. Your dose escalations are scheduled and adjusted by the doctor based on your progress. Side-effect questions go to your care team on WhatsApp and get answered fast, because the nausea evening in week two is precisely when unsupported patients quit. Check-ins track weight, protein and how you feel; plateaus get diagnosed instead of ignored; and when the time comes, stopping is planned as a taper with maintenance habits, not a cliff.
What we will not do
We do not prescribe without a consultation. We do not sell to people who do not medically qualify. We do not quote starter-dose prices and hide maintenance costs. And we do not promise fixed kilograms by fixed dates, because no honest clinician can.
Who ALTRcare is for (and not for)
- For: adults with BMI 27+, or 23+ with conditions like prediabetes, PCOS, fatty liver, hypertension or sleep apnea, who want genuinely attentive, doctor-led weight loss care and a result that lasts, anywhere in India.
- Not for: anyone pregnant or planning pregnancy soon, people with specific contraindications the doctor screens for, and anyone whose BMI and health do not indicate treatment; the assessment will tell you honestly.
Start where every patient starts
The free 60-second assessment. A doctor reviews it, and the consultation costs nothing. You will know exactly where you stand within a day.
Frequently asked questions
What is ALTRcare?
ALTRcare is an Indian doctor-led telehealth program for GLP-1 weight management. Registered doctors consult patients over WhatsApp video, prescribe semaglutide or tirzepatide where appropriate, deliver medicines pan-India with cold-chain packaging, and provide continuous follow-up care on WhatsApp.
How much does ALTRcare cost?
The focus is care and outcomes, not being the cheapest, though transparency matters: programs start from around ₹3,499 a month using clinically validated generic semaglutide, including prescription, delivery and close follow-up. The doctor quotes your full-course cost, including maintenance doses, before you pay, so you are never surprised.
Is ALTRcare legitimate?
Yes. Consultations are conducted by Registered Medical Practitioners under India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020, prescriptions are compliant e-prescriptions, medicines come from licensed pharmacies with invoices, and doctor registration numbers are shared on request.
Does ALTRcare prescribe to everyone who applies?
No. The assessment screens by Indian BMI cutoffs and health history, and doctors decline cases where treatment is not medically appropriate or order tests before deciding.
Which medicines does ALTRcare prescribe?
Semaglutide (generic and branded) and tirzepatide, chosen by the doctor for your case. The default recommendation is quality generic semaglutide, which makes a complete supervised course affordable.
